Handling Procedure

1. Lifting & Carrying

  • Stagstone sheet should be lifted by both hands carefully.
  • Stagstone sheets should always be carried by at least 2 people holding the sheet from both ends.
  • Special attention needs to be given to the edges in order to make sure they are not damaged.
  • It is important to make sure that only a single Stagstone sheet is carried at a time.
  • One end must be kept on the surface first and then the sheet should be slid carefully and slowly.

2. Sheet Placement

  • Stagstone sheets should always be carried by at least 2 people holding the sheet from both ends.
  • Special attention needs to be given to the edges in order to make sure they are not damaged.
  • It is important to make sure that only a single Stagstone sheet is carried at a time.
  • One end must be kept on the surface first and then the sheet should be slid carefully and slowly.

3. Stacking & Packing

  • Stagstone sheets should never be kept on the ground, and instead should always be kept in such a manner that proper support is given to all 4 corners.
  • Stagstone sheets should also be stored flat (above the ground level by at least 150mm in horizontal alignment
  • In one pile, no more than 175 sheets should be stacked.
  • Sheets of different sizes and types should always be stacked differently, as per their make.
  • Packing should make sure that all 4 corners are fully protected. Once packed the sheets should only be tacked horizontally.

4. Transportation

  • For the process of loading, the guidlines mentioned above in the placement, stacking and packing must be used.
  • The base has to be made flat with the use of wooden battens and protection must be given to the sides to prevent any damage to the Stagstone sheets.
  • It is important to make sure that the maximum stacking capacity as given (175 sheets per stack) must not be exceeded.

5. General Guidelines

  • The storage site should be seperated from usual people and water courses, along with this the storage site used for Stagstone sheets must be cleared of vegetation to minimize the risk of fire.
  • Good security procedures must be used to prevent unauthorised access.
  • It is important to make sure that there is a proper access point along with easy exits.
  • Adequate space along with protection of direct sunlight.
  • The storage site should also have good and natural ventilation.
